George Castle began receiving tuition on the organ from Keith Wright whilst he was a chorister at Durham Cathedral. On leaving the Cathedral Choir he moved to Bedford school as a Music and, later, Organ Scholar. In 2004/5 he spent a year as the Organ Scholar at Worcester Cathedral before taking up the organ scholarship and a place to read music at Trinity College, Oxford.
In 2006 he also became Organ Scholar at Worcester College, accompanying and directing the choirs – Worcester College is the only college in Oxford to have both a mixed voice choir and a choir with boy choristers. As well as the four weekly services, he directed the choir at various venues around the country and recorded a CD of recent British sacred choral music, due to be released later this month.
Having completed his degree in June 2008, George left Oxford to take up the post of Sub Assistant Organist back at Worcester Cathedral where, amongst his other duties, he is the repetiteur and accompanist for the Chamber Choir.
